Abstract
Karies gigi adalah suatu proses patologis berupa proses kerusakan yang terbatas pada jaringan keras gigi yang dimulai dari email terus ke dentin. Kelompok yang paling rentan terkena karies gigi adalah anak sekolah dasar. salah satu cara merubah perilaku yaitu dengan melakukan intervensi berupa pemberian informasi untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa sekolah dasar. pemberian informasi pada siswa akan lebih efektif dan optimal bila menggunakan media atau alat bantu. media flip chart dan media audiovisual. Tujuan : tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui perbandingan efektivitas flip chart dan media audiovisual terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan siswa Sd Negeri katangka tentang karies gigi. Metode: metode penelitian ini adalah quasi experiment dengan rancangan non equivalent control group design with pretest and post-test. Hasil: hasil peneltian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemberian informasi tentang karies gigi menggunakan media flip chart p= 0,.001 (p<0,005) dan media audiovisual p=0,004 (p<0,005). Hasil uji statistik rerata nilai selisih pemberian informasi tentang karies gigi dengan menggunakan media flip chart 15,25 sedangkan menggunakan media audiovisual yaitu 17,75.

Pada penelitian ini didapatkan pada dua kelompok perlakuan subjek berjenis kelamin perempuan lebih banyak daripada laki-laki (Tabel 1).
