Globalization has transformed economic activity, creating more demanding markets and pressuring firms to adapt through effective organizational change. Despite extensive research on business competitiveness, gaps remain in understanding how innovation management (IM) contributes to competitive advantage (CA). This review synthesizes current trends to clarify those effects. For this purpose, a qualitative approach was used, which included an exhaustive literature review, bibliometric analysis and intelligent data analysis. We find that both IM and competitive advantage are essential elements. IM is considered crucial for the successful growth of organizations in extremely competitive business markets. It is suggested that future research with a quantitative approach be carried out to show what type of IM is developed by organizations and whatCAs they obtain in return. Also, to examine the factors and actors involved in IMto develop CA. The results of the study have the potential to guide future research and sound business strategies. A key limitation is the Tree of Science (ToS) tool’s database restriction, which may exclude relevant studies beyond Web of Science.

In this article, the process and results of a literature search using a new proposed scientific literature search tool (ToS: Tree of Science) aimed at partially overcoming the need to search in different databases was used. In its present form, ToS needs, as input, a previous search in the Web of Science (WoS), and by means of all references used in the articles found in the WoS search, it selects the more significant items, classifying them into three categories: root, trunk and leaves. In our example, from an initial total sum of 164 hits found in WoS, ToS provided 90 items. The following fields of these two results were put together in an Excel sheet for elimination of repetitions and further consideration: title, authors, source, year of publication and DOI (Digital Object Identifier). Then, the titles of the articles were read and graded by the three authors (a senior researcher, a junior researcher, and a PhD student) as 0 (of no interest for the topic), 1 (of possible interest) or 2 (of interest). The marks were added up and those with a score > 3 (56) were selected for the abstracts to be read by the PhD student to establish a final student’s own selection (SoS) of articles for initiating the review of the literature on her topic of interest.

In the conditions of a high level of development of information systems based on technologies of distributed data processing, the use of artificial intelligence, Big Data and intelligent data analysis, the process of creating management reporting is a complex analytical toolkit that allows accountants to create reports with the necessary indicators in various formats, according with different time parameters and different level of detail based on the generalization and analysis of data from multiple internal and external sources. The article aims to improve the theoretical and methodological aspects of the formation of management reporting on the innovative capital of the enterprise. The author formulated and substantiated the procedure for the formation of management reporting on the innovative capital of the enterprise, which consists of three main directions: 1) Improvement of the system of the enterprise's management accounting objects; 2) Application of management accounting methods to the innovative capital of the enterprise; 3) Improvement of management reporting on the enterprise's innovative capital. Approaches to understanding management reporting in modern conditions of the development of information and computer technologies are highlighted and analyzed. The study results show that management reporting on innovation capital broadly is a set of specialized internal reports and other forms of presentation, visualization, and transfer of internal information (information panels, dashboards of individual indicators) about innovative activity to persons who make management decisions. It was found that the specifics of the innovative activity of enterprises and the use of various approaches to the organization of its management systems (models and methods of decision-making by innovative management) make it impossible to develop a single standardized form of management reporting on innovative capital. The article describes the mechanisms for setting up and using the enterprise's management reports from the basic set available in the BAS ERP information system ("Management balance sheet", "Revenues and expenses", "Financial results", standard reports) to disclose relevant information about the enterprise's innovative activities for the needs and requests of innovative management. A General Report on the "Innovative Balanced Scorecard" and a dashboard for the "Return on Investment in Innovation (ROII)" indicator in the BSC Designer software product have been developed for business entities.

Big data analytics in supply chain management: uncovering emerging trends through a bibliometric network analysis and a systematic literature review
  • Nov 11, 2025
  • Journal of Enterprise Information Management
  • Ilker Topcu + 3 more

Purpose This study aims to investigate the intersection of supply chain management (SCM) and big data analytics (BDA) through a multidimensional approach that incorporates bibliometric and network analysis (BNA) and a systematic literature review (SLR). Design/methodology/approach BNA and SLR are academic research methods, each with distinct purposes and limitations. BNA manages large datasets, while SLR focuses on smaller ones for in-depth review. As of January 2023, we analysed 851 articles retrieved from the Web of Science (WoS) core collection via BNA. To mitigate against BNA's limitations, we performed an SLR of 194 articles in 2023–2024, unveiling new themes in the “BDA in SCM” domain that were not apparent through BNA alone. Findings The findings demonstrate global collaboration patterns, highlighting China's lead in publications but lower international engagement than the USA's. BDA and the emerging discipline of supply chain resilience are closely interlinked; Industry 4.0 intertwines with sustainability and circular economy (CE) themes, and both are contributions that have been underexplored in previous reviews. Future studies will explore how BDA and other digital technologies enhance Supply Chain Ambidexterity by improving information processing in uncertain environments. Healthcare 4.0 technologies – specifically BDA, AI and Blockchain – boost efficiency, innovation, and risk management. However, the full potential of an intelligent Food Supply Chain (IFSC) lies in the integration of AI-driven systems, BDA and advanced analytics – a step that is still in its early stages. Originality/value Big data analytics in supply chain management is a rapidly evolving research domain without a review paper since 2020 and with more than 500 papers published in 2021–2022. Our novel methodology of supplementing BNA with an SLR allows us to capture newer or niche contributions in the domain of big data analytics in supply chain management. This approach sets the study apart, ensuring insights into the field's current state and future directions. Integrating quantitative (BNA) and qualitative (SLR) approaches provides a well-rounded perspective on the field.
