Abstract

This study moves on from the point that the written linguistic input that the child is exposed to is as essential as the spoken input especially at certain stages of language acquisition and it presupposes that textbooks as one of the important sources of written linguistic input for the child should be analyzed and be described clearly in terms of certain linguistic elements. In this framework, the study, using a database constituted of the verbs in the textbook Hayat Bilgisi used in the second class of the primary school, examines the situation types of verbs, their distribution in terms of argument structure, the aspectual markers attached to them and the adverbial usage
