Abstract

Everyone in the UK will probably be familiar with the case of Amy Gehring, the Canadian supply teacher who was found not guilty of indecently assaulting two brothers at her school. As details of the verdict emerged and were digested by the media, I found myself wondering what the lessons might be for our own field. Ms Gehring said that, with hindsight, she had behaved stupidly but offered some mitigating circumstances.
