Abstract

the growth strata near the boundary of the Pliocene-Pleistocene Atushi and Xiyu Formations, the 37 authors interpreted that the Atushi anticline started to develop around ~1.8 Ma. Zhao and Pan 38 applied the technique of GPS velocity decomposition and cluster analysis to constrain the strain 39 partition and accommodation in the Qilian fold-and-thrust belt (QFTB) and its tectonic relationship 40 with adjacent blocks. Their work revealed that the East and West QFTB are featured by lateral 41 extrusion and range-normal crustal shortening-lateral extension, respectively. Such deformation 42 pattern may be attributed to regional simple shear and pure shear, respectively. In summary, the 14 papers demonstrate the state-of-the-art advances in the research of basin and 103 orogenic processes, from the perspective of interactions between tectonic deformation and associated 104 surface processes and environment changes. We believe that the results from these papers will 105 contribute to the development of geoscience communities, such as continental tectonics, tectonic 106 geomorphology and paleoclimate changes. 107 108
