Abstract

I first learned of the Koyangi repair at a meeting of the American Urologic Association not long after fellowship training. Drs. John Duckett and Barry Belman, masters of hypospadias surgery, were discussing the complexities of Professor Koyangi's technique. Having been mentored by Dr. Duckett I was firmly in the camp that the urethral plate is not the cause of penile curvature and that resecting the urethral plate does not facilitate the correction of the inherent corporal disproportion which is the cause of penile curvature, hence not much enthusiasm for the technique.
