Abstract

We consider a two-component composite weakly reinforced by fibers with rectangular cross section and weakened by two contact cracks located symmetrically about one of the coordinate axes. The composite is under the conditions of plane deformation and subjected to the action of a uniform tensile load on its boundary. We study the influence of Poisson's ratios of the components of the composite on the character of the zones of edge effects. An approximate solution of the problem is found by the method of finite differences. We construct the zones of edge effects for the components of stresses depending on the values of Poisson's ratios of the components of the composite.
