Abstract

Ferroelectric Scintillators In article number 2102848, Li-Zhuang Chen, Yi Zhang, and co-workers present a series of metal halide compounds [RQ]2MnBr4 (R = H, methyl, ethyl, fluoroethyl, Q = quinuclidine). The precisely designed modulation towards cations not only arouses the satisfactory ferroelectricity of [FEtQ]2MnBr4, but also drastically enhances the photoluminescence quantum yield from 38.7% to 83.65%. [FEtQ]2MnBr4 is a promising candidate to achieve high scintillation performance compared with some commercial scintillators, such as bismuth germanium oxide and lutetium yttrium oxyorthosilicate.
