Abstract

e11539 Background: Health care in United states of America is undergoing paradigm shift with Congress mandating that the Medicare program tie payment to reporting on quality measures.We undertook this study to assess the compliance of breast cancer care with established quality indicators from professional societies. Methods: We undertook a retrospective study at University of Toledo Medical Center(UTMC ) after IRB approval , which included patients with stage I/II breast cancer between 2006-2010. Percentage compliance with ASCO/NCCN Quality Measures was calculated. Radiation therapy administered within 1 year of diagnosis for women younger than age 70 years receiving breast conserving surgery. Combination chemotherapy is considered or administered within 4 months (120 days) of diagnosis with AJCC T1cN0M0, or stage II or III hormone receptor–negative breast cancer.
