Abstract
Conventional dynamic macroscopic models for traffic flow on freeways and their behaviours with respect to the Al freeway are investigated. An extension of the models for urban freeways with changing number of lanes and with many on- and off-ramps is discussed. Additional terms of speed equation regarding both the high ramp volume and the lane drop are presented. The extended model of traffic on the A1 freeway is developed, which describes traffic phenomena of the freeway with a fair accuracy and a considerable robustness.
