Abstract
Molecular dynamics simulations were performed to study the particle streaming motion in a toroidal trap under the influence of gravity, ion drag, friction and interparticles forces. The resulting inhomogeneous stationary streaming motion exhibits, depending on the strength of friction, a stationary shock or the formation of an vortex flow.
