Abstract
The main objective of this paper is to share Vale Oman knowledge and experiences in dust control of bulky material handling in stockyard areas, where the piles of iron ore stocked for a certain period before use in the plant. Those piles are subjected to high wind speed which leads to generate dust emission. The new dust suppressant had been tested and evaluated through a Defused Dust Emission Monitoring Network (DDEMN), The dust suppressant solution sprayed on the stockpiles by using Vale stacker and reclaimer equipment forming a white-coloured crust that eliminate the wind effect on the iron ore piles and give clear visual indication for the inspectors or operators that the pile is fully covered. The results of Emission Rate from yard area after applying new dust cruster decreased around 75 % which preserve the environment and gain sustainable operation. This application of dust control can be compared with any other method used based on pros and cons and efficacy.
