Abstract
ABSTRACT Although research in the area of illicit drug use suggests that often those who use drugs do so in combination with alcohol, there has been little attention paid to the drug use patterns of DUI offenders, particularly as it related to the offenders alcohol consumption and criminality. It is to this end that this research is directed. Specifically, this study explores the alcohol and drug use patterns of incarcerated DUI offenders and their involvement with the criminal justice system, both as DUI offenders and as individuals involved in other types of criminal behavior.
