Abstract
A compact orthogonally fed ultra wideband diversity antenna with high isolation have been proposed and presented in this paper. The objective of this work is to design ultra wide band four elements multiple input multiple output diversity antenna module appropriate for many wireless devices such as WLAN, WiMax, LTE etc. By arranging them orthogonal to each other, dual polarization is attained. A decent impedance matching and good port-to-port isolation is obtained by optimizing dimensions of individual antenna element and keeping distance lambda by 8 between elements respectively. The presented MIMO antenna has been analyzed, designed, simulated and investigated using IE3D mentor graphics software. Fabrication of antenna is done on FR4 substrate and it's scattering parameters are measured using vector network analyzer. Simulated envelope correlation coefficient has been calculated. This MIMO antenna has overall dimension of 60 × 60 mm2, ultra wide bandwidth (3 GHz–12 GHz), minimum mutual coupling below -15 dB and maximum gain of 5.27 dBi. Good agreement has been achieved between measured and simulated results. The proposed antenna covers many wireless applications due to its comparable size, moderate gain, good correlation coefficient and high port to port isolation.
