Abstract

Hepatitis B infection is endemic in sub-Saharan Africa, where transmission predominantly occurs in infants and children by perinatal and horizontal routes [1,2]. The risk of chronic infection peaks when infection is acquired early.1 Most of the burden of disease from Hepatitis B Virus infection comes from infections acquired before the age of 5 years.
