Abstract

A novel printed antenna with bent slots in the ground plane for satisfying wireless local area network (WLAN) applications has been proposed and studied. In this paper, the configuration consists of a microstrip feedline for excitation and bent slots in a ground plane for band broadening. The designers could obtain a preferable bandwidth which covers 2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz WLAN bands sufficiently in a smaller design via enhanced electromagnetic coupling between two bent slots. In addition, an approximately omni-directional radiation pattern is obtained.
