Abstract

For decades the deuteron has been the object of a great deal of interest, as physicists have attempted to learn more about the structure of this simple nuclear system. In spite of this, our understanding of the two-nucleon bound state is far from complete. In particular, attempts to learn about the D-state component in the deuteron wave function have not been very productive.
