Abstract
Key points This study by Cortese et al. has shown low rates of clinical outcomes especially target lesion revascularization (9%) in patients treated with Sirolimus coated balloon in large vessels. This is a nonrandomized single‐arm registry and hence significant impact on clinical practice is unlikely to be huge. Head‐to‐head randomized control trials comparing clinical outcomes between drug coated balloon versus drug eluting stents in large vessels is the way forward. Such studies are in the enrollment phase, and we eagerly look forward to the results from these studies.
