Article AbstractLetter to the Editor Sir: We would like to respond to Dr. Schneider's commentson our article. For regulatory reasons, the Alzheimer's DiseaseAssessment Scale-Cognitive subscale (ADAS-Cog) and ClinicianInterview-Based Impression of Change with Caregiver Input(CIBIC-Plus) are generally the primary outcome measures.It has become increasingly apparent that these primary efficacyvariables do not describe the total symptomatic profile of Alzheimer's disease, and, therefore, the secondary outcomes werereported in our article with equal prominence to scores on theADAS-Cog and the CIBIC-Plus.
