Abstract

AbstractThis article is devoted to the use of drone brood as a food product and an apitherapeutic agent. The relevance of the work is due to the fact that interest in drone brood as a rich source of macro- and micronutrients is steadily increasing, respectively, the volume of its use as a food product and an apitherapeutic agent increases, however, the available data require generalization. The purpose of this review is to summarize the accumulated information on the use of drone brood in rational nutrition and apitherapy, indicators of its quality and safety, chemical composition, biological action, stabilization, forms used and further implementation into practice. The research material was data published in accessible journals and posted on Internet resources. As a result of the work, data on physical and chemical indicators, safety indicators were summarized and the main groups of biologically active substances of drone brood were described. Among biologically active components, lipids, hormone-like compounds, unique decenoic acids, proteins, peptides and amino acids, carbohydrates and others deserve special attention. Its main biological effects, use as a food product and an apitherapeutic agent are also described. Drone brood has a wide spectrum of biological activity. The problems of further introduction of the product in nutritional and apitherapeutic practice are outlined. Despite the richness of the drone brood in biologically active components, only a few clinical studies have been carried out, which have shown its effectiveness in many pathological conditions.KeywordsDrone broodNutritiologyApitherapyFoodBeekiping sustainabilityEnvironmental safety
