Abstract

The article discusses seven brooches and some 50 belt buckles from the Late Antique period in Jordan. All pieces presented here are part of male dress, very probably worn by officials. Although the existing provenance material is not the best, it is possible to reconstruct a continuous development of dress accessories from the late-fourth until the seventh or early-eighth centuries AD. The author suggests that belt buckles of Byzantine style were still worn in Umayyad times.
