Abstract
The Indian Journal of Surgical Oncology has completed One Year of publication through Springer very successfully. I congratulate the office bearers of Indian Association of Surgical Oncology way back in 2008, conceptualized the idea under the leadership of Dr. Sanjay Sharma the then President and Dr.SanjeevMisra, Secretary. Today their vision and dream has come true and four issues were brought out which have been useful to all the oncologists in the country and also across the globe. As a Chairman/Editor it reminds me to write “Down the memory lane” about the events that have happened since the birth of this journal, of which we have brought out four issues in spite of all the initial hurdles. I take this opportunity on behalf of the editorial board to congratulate and compliment the executive committee of the Indian Association of Surgical Oncology. Whose timely advice was very useful. I appreciate all the authors who have presented their individual and institutional work. Special thanks to all the authors who responded to our request in sending articles and all the reviewers for their valuable support in reviewing the articles on time. Without the support and sponsorship from the industry, in today’s scientific era it would not have been possible to bring out the journal. I really thank all of them for their continued support to our journal. As one reads the issues of the journal you will not only find a significant amount of material addressing surgery, but also relating to advanced surgical techniques which includes conventional surgery, minimal invasive surgery, complex skull base surgery along with reconstructive surgical procedures. The topics chosen were not only surgically oriented but also to the subjects relating to molecular, biochemical, genetics, proteomic, imaging including molecular imaging and target therapeutic surgery which are undergoing investigative protocols. The four issues which were brought out were very useful to acquire knowledge and skill. The first issue was on Breast cancer which contained the experiences of surgeons and scientists across the globe and reflected the concept of “Multidisciplinary team” in management of breast cancer. A tribute to Dr. Jussawala, first president of IASO and a doyen of oncology who started the first specialty Breast clinic at Tata Memorial Hospital a few decades ago which K. S.
