Abstract

A feedback controlled Dielectrophoretic (DEP) levitation scheme to examine the frequency-dependent polarization response of individual biological cell characteristics has been improved such that stable levitation of biological cells is now possible in both the positive and negative DEP spectral regiom. This enhancement in the single cell DEP levitation scheme has enabled up to emine in some detail the frequency-dependent polarization response (f canola protoplasts over a wider frequency than previously reported. Our results indicate the presence of an additionul relaxation process in the low frequency region of the DEP spectrum.
