Abstract

I once had a nonprofit executive tell me about his own “board member from hell” experience. In a nutshell, it went like this: The CEO had a new board member who wanted to fire a staff member. “I refused, told the board member her performance was more than satisfactory and also told him that firing employees was my job,” the executive said. “The board member then told me, ‘OK, then I will get rid of you.’”
