Abstract

Use of combination antiretroviral therapy during pregnancy has lowered perinatal HIV transmission rates to less than 2% in the U.S. Nonetheless, concerns exist about the risk for preterm delivery. In European cohorts, this risk was significantly higher with combination therapy, with or without PIs, than with no therapy ( AIDS 2000; 14:2913).
