Abstract

To the Editor: Because of the large number of qualified applicants and a paucity of residency positions, many unsuccessful dermatology applicants pursue a preresidency dermatology fellowship. Such a fellowship usually requires that the fellow complete his or her internship year but not a dermatology residency. We designed a survey study to determine if completing a preresidency dermatology fellowship increases a fellow's chance of subsequently matching to a dermatology residency program.
