Abstract
Purpose: Almost 50 years of research demonstrates the ability of hand-based left/right judgment tasks (LRJTs) to elicit motor imagery of upper limb movements and subsequently interrogate the body schema. Recently, this ability has led to the adoption of LRJTs in chronic pain management with considerable success. This has resulted in the development of LRJTs targeting other parts of the body (e.g. neck-based LRJTs) assuming that they elicit motor imagery of the targeted area (e.g. neck movements).
