Abstract

The paper is an attempt to present a model of an attitude towards strangers: getting to know, tolerating, accepting, and finally assimilating them, in terms of funeral rites, and thus of different religion. Such is a case manifested by an appearance of bustum type graves within the Przeworsk culture cemeteries in Wielkopolska (Greater Poland) in the Roman Iron Age.

Obecność grobów typu bustum w nekropolach ludności przeworskiej i wielbarskiej „w jawny sposób” naruszała konserwatyzm obu wyżej wymienionych elementów życia społeczności. Że znalezisko to można z pewną ostrożnością interpretować jako szczątki bustum bliżej niesprecyzowanej odmiany Jak widać z przytoczonego po krótce zestawienia, można dostrzec wyraźny wzrost liczebności obiektów grobowych typu bustum rejestrowany na wielkopolskich cmentarzyskach ludności kultury przeworskiej w stosunku do okresu poprzedniego.
