Abstract
Brightness-voltage characteristics of the ZnS:Mn single crystals and their dependence on the frequency and strength of the electric field are studied. A model of the mechanism of excitation of electroluminescence in these crystals on the basis of excitation of the electroluminescence centers by electrons accelerated in the electric fields of the Schottky-type barriers is suggested. Such barriers are formed by dislocations at the sites of interrupting the stacking faults by them. The experimental and calculated data are in good agreement.
