Abstract
Temporomandibular joint ankylosis is a distressing structural condition which results in limitation of mouth opening, severe facial deformity and inability to lead normal social life. Management of Temporomandibular joint ankylosis is through surgical intervention but patients have persistent facial deformity which later can aggravate psychological stress. Distraction osteogenesis is an upcoming treatment modality and has been applied for the treatment of facial deformities subsequent to temporomandibular joint ankylosis.
