Abstract

The advent of videoconferencing technology has created opportunities to pool educational resources across different training programs. The authors surveyed participants and presenters in a seminar series utilizing interactive video-conferencing and a web-based course management system. Trainees with access to high-speed real-time connections rated their experience more highly compared with those who used slower web streaming technology, particularly with regard to the sound quality. Specific recommendations on optimizing the use of video-conferencing and web-based course management tools in the training of residents are offered.
