Abstract
A new technique has been developed using a microprocessor controlled printer to directly deposit a controlleo ink film to act as a barrier against etchants. The process is similar to photochemical machining but removes all the stages of photo processing and mask making. The method has been developed for the controlled texturing of steel rollers for the automotive industry but also has potentials in other areas of photochemical machining. This paper introduces the concept and describes early experimental work in the texturing of steel rollers.
