Abstract

A reduction-diffusion method focused on preparation of submicron-sized Sm2Fe17 particles was developed. The effects of calcination of the precursor, the reduction-diffusion temperature, and addition of Ti to the Sm–Fe precursor on the Sm2Fe17 particle size were investigated. Based on the results, a single-phase Sm2Fe17 ultra-fine powder with a size of about 0.6 μm was successfully prepared by using a combination of the optimal conditions.
