Abstract
Abstract Hexaaquomanganese (II) nitrate can be made to react with isocyanides (b.p. > 100[ddot]) in methanol if the solution is reacted under vacuum. Isocyanides completely replace the coordinated water molecules to give the hexakis(isocyanide) manganese complexes. In two steps, fair yields of the manganese (I) complexes of p-anisyl, p-tolyl, and benzyl isocyanide can be directly prepared by this method.
