Abstract
ABSTRACT This poem aims to explore domestic life through the lens of gender expectations and relational dynamics. It sets out to capture the unnerving contrast between societal norms that often position females as default yet unpaid caretakers and women's struggle for self-recognition and respect within marriage. The stanzas reflect a dissatisfaction, if not injustice, rooted in the traditional roles that bind women to the repetitive cycles of domestic labour, mirroring the patriarchal structures that idealise women's sacrifice in the name of love. Overall, the poem aims to serve as a call to awareness – and in turn, empowerment – of voices marginalised by outdated norms and stale rhetorics.
