Digitize your knowledge-powered culture to double the impact of A.I.
This article aims to show that, to more effectively use artificial intelligence to prosper, corporations also need to develop a digital knowledge-powered culture. This article is not to present data and comes from our 30 years of observations and consulting work experience in the fields of organizational transformation and emerging technology in the world. In this article, we propose that organizations develop a digital knowledge-powered culture to effectively address these concerns and increase the positive impacts of artificial intelligence technology in their corporations. The corporate world has never been the same since the invention of artificial intelligence technology and never will be. In today’s AI-centric era, shaping equals transformation. Shaping means changing the shape. In the cyberspace of AI, real-time transformations take place on the stage. The emerging technology of artificial intelligence is a powerful weapon but a neutral agent, and executives in the US and the other developed world now have two options: develop a digital knowledge-powered culture to use it or ignore such a culture to lose it. We particularly show that if executives select to use artificial intelligence, they should be aware that there is also one concern regarding an effective transformation for AI: cultivating an effective digital knowledge-powered culture for corporations.

Purpose Despite the growing number of firms undertaking digital transformation, there is still a limited understanding of how to realise business value, and many fail to implement it effectively. This study examines the interplay of digital organisational culture, digital transformation and business model innovation. Design/methodology/approach A quantitative research approach was employed, drawing on data from a representative survey of 250 firms across Greece’s trade, services and manufacturing sectors. Partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) was implemented to test the hypothesized relationships. Findings The study finds a strong positive effect of digital organisational culture on digital transformation. Additionally, digital transformation significantly influences business model innovation and fully mediates the relationship between digital organisational culture and business model innovation. Practical implications The study offers actionable insights for practitioners on how a proper digital culture (as an organisational requirement) and digital transformation practices can drive innovation in value creation, proposition and capture across trade, service and manufacturing firms. Additionally, the manuscript discusses the role of artificial intelligence (AI) as a core enabling technology that organisations increasingly adopt to drive and support digital transformation initiatives. Originality/value Literature on digital transformation concentrates on economic performance rather than innovation-driven outcomes, focusing on technology while overlooking the role of digital culture, which is key in overcoming resistance. This paper presents a novel model and empirical evidence from Greece, a Mediterranean country characterised by economic and resource constraints. It also offers sector-specific implications to support firms in maximising the value of digital investments and avoiding technological failures, which is crucial considering the urgency of artificial intelligence (AI).

Humanistic Buddhism is one of the mainstreams of modern Buddhism, with special emphasis on the humanistic dimension. With the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, Humanistic Buddhism is also at an important stage of modernization and transformation, thus facing a continuous negotiation between religious values and technological innovations. This paper first argues that AI is technically beneficial to the propagation of Buddhism by citing several cases in which AI technology has been used in Buddhism. Then, by comparing Master Hsing Yun’s Buddhist ethics to “Posthuman” ethics, it points out that the theories of Humanistic Buddhism share similarities with AI and Posthuman ethics. Among them, Master Hsing Yun’s theory of “the nature of insentient beings” provides an important theoretical reference for the question of “whether AI can become a Buddha”. From the technical and ethical dimensions, it points out that the interaction between Humanistic Buddhism and AI can promote original uses or implementations of AI technology. However, it should also be noted that compared to the cases of “Artificial Narrow Intelligence”discussed in the paper, the “Strong AI” could lead to much more ethical crises. It is also likely to cause the cult of science and technology, and thus subvert the humanistic tradition of Buddhism with a new instrumental rationality. In addition, there are some potential pitfalls that Humanistic Buddhism may encounter when using AI. Hence, while it is necessary to encourage the use of technologies such as AI in contemporary Buddhism, it is also important for Buddhism to keep a critical distance from digital technologies.

The purpose of the article is to reveal the peculiarities of digital visual culture through the prism of the problems of the production of user content by means of specialised applications for mobile phones. Research methodology. The method of theoretical research, logical-analytical, subject-analytical, system-structural and typological method, as well as cultural and comparative method, was applied, which contributed to the identification of the main trends of digital visual culture. Scientific novelty. The phenomenon of digital visual culture is studied through the prism of the specifics of mobile applications; the problem of interpretation of a visual act in the context of the theory of digital culture is considered; analysed the features of using special effects in modern mobile applications (for example, Snow, Prequel, AirBrush and FaceApp). Conclusions. Mobile applications are based on the features of digital devices (mobility, tactile, multimodal interaction, mediated perception of the world in its dynamics thanks to the built-in front and rear cameras), which radically changed visual culture. At the modern stage, smartphones with touch screens and the ability to install various mobile applications, as one of the digital media, have created a new process of image production and distribution, as well as a new aesthetic sphere open to users. Art applications change the traditional relationship between the production of a work, the viewer and visual culture, providing the user/artist with a collection of stylistic sets. Accordingly, the process of artistic creativity is transformed into the process of choosing one of the proposed options, which is equivalent to the degradation of the aesthetic to the level of entertainment. Mobile apps for editing visual content facilitate representation through simulacra, whereby users define cultural relationships and behaviours in digital environments using non-realistic images. The most common applications at the current stage (Snow, Prequel, AirBrush and FaceApp), thanks to the use of innovative technologies of augmented reality and artificial intelligence, provide the opportunity for unlimited transformation of the ascending image (from retouching and applying beauty filters, to changing plasticity, age, gender, emotions or background).
