The rapid integration of immersive digital technologies is fundamentally reshaping how cultural content is experienced, challenging museums to adapt to the expectations of digitally native audiences, particularly Generation Z. This study empirically examines whether digital, virtual, and multimedia content serves as a motivational factor for museum visitation and enhances the user experience among this generational cohort. An empirical, cross-sectional study was conducted using a structured, anonymous questionnaire administered to 97 undergraduate students (aged 19–25) at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Graphic Arts. The results indicate that 64% of respondents perceive digitally enhanced museum content as a motivating factor for more frequent visits, while 76% believe such solutions foster a new form of experiential engagement. Concurrently, a notable proportion of respondents express caution toward technology-mediated interpretation, underscoring generational heterogeneity and the importance of user autonomy. The findings are interpreted through established theoretical frameworks, including the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Uses and Gratifications Theory (U&G), and Self-Determination Theory (SDT), and are contextualized by a systematic literature review. The study contributes to ongoing debates on digital transformation by providing empirically grounded insights into the motivational dynamics of Generation Z. It concludes that digital technologies are effective when thoughtfully aligned with user expectations, educational goals, and institutional values.

Purpose Based on the technology acceptance model, perceived risk and self-determination theories, this study proposes a new model to predict staff and lecturers’ digital transformation adoption in the higher education in the post-COVID-19 era. Design/methodology/approach This cross-sectional study was conducted using a quantitative approach. The target population consisted of staff and lecturers from 14 Vietnamese universities in the southern and central regions of Vietnam. A total of 497 participants received online and printed surveys. After excluding 35 incomplete responses, 462 valid cases were analyzed. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 22 and SMARTPLS 3.0 software. Findings The findings reveal that factors from the technology acceptance model remain valuable in predicting staff and lecturers’ adoption of digital transformation. Additionally, factors from perceived risk theory and self-determination theory, including perceived risk and technology self-efficacy, also influence digital transformation adoption. Attitudes toward digital transformation play a partial mediating role in the relationships between perceived usefulness, perceived risk, technology self-efficacy and digital transformation adoption. Originality/value The study presents a new model that combines the technology acceptance model, perceived risk and self-determination theories into an integrated framework aimed at predicting staff and lecturers’ adoption of digital transformation. This study addresses research gaps by responding to previous authors’ calls to integrate additional theories with the technology acceptance model and perceived risk theory to better predict individuals’ intentions and behaviors. The findings highlight the importance of both contextual and internal factors in understanding the intrinsic and extrinsic motivations that drive staff and lecturers’ adoption of digital transformation.

ABSTRACT: Digital transformation (DT) is the use and integration of digital technologies in all areas of an organization, leading to profound changes in its activities, operations and value creation for customers. It has become a matter of survival for organizations across all sectors, geographies and sizes. Despite its widespread adoption, DT success is not achieved by investing in technology alone; it is necessary to analyze the factors that influence success and understand why some companies gain a competitive advantage while others fail. This study examines three key factors of DT: business model innovation, digital technology integration and digital talent management, and their relationship to performance. In addition, we examine the environment in which each organization operates, considering the technological intensity of the sector as a potential moderating factor between these factors and performance. The study focuses on Spanish manufacturing companies, using data from the ESEE. By analyzing a panel data set of 9215 observations between 2011 and 2017, we provide evidence that the technological intensity of the sector significantly affects the relationship between business model innovation, digital technology integration, the development of new competencies and performance. The study shows that companies in medium- and low-tech sectors can benefit more quickly from investments aimed at business model innovation, digital technology integration and the development of new competencies, and achieve better short-term results compared to companies in high-tech sectors. Impact of Digital Fashion Shows on Consumer Engagement with Fashion Brands in Nigeria

Purpose: The aim of the study was to analyze the impact of digital fashion shows on consumer engagement with fashion brands in Nigeria. Methodology: This study adopted a desk methodology. A desk study research design is commonly known as secondary data collection. This is basically collecting data from existing resources preferably because of its low cost advantage as compared to a field research. Our current study looked into already published studies and reports as the data was easily accessed through online journals and libraries. Findings: Digital fashion shows have significantly enhanced consumer engagement with fashion brands in Nigeria by offering a dynamic, accessible online experience. These virtual events have allowed brands to reach a broader audience, increasing their visibility and facilitating direct interaction with consumers. Real-time feedback during these shows has enabled brands to fine-tune their marketing strategies and product offerings to align with consumer preferences. The use of augmented reality technologies has further personalized the shopping experience, leading to increased consumer interest and brand loyalty. Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Technology acceptance model (TAM), uses and gratifications theory (UGT) & engagement theory may be used to anchor future studies on impact of digital fashion shows on consumer engagement with fashion brands in Nigeria. Fashion brands should leverage a combination of VR, AR, and live-streaming to create more engaging and immersive experiences. By investing in these technologies and incorporating high-quality digital content, brands can enhance consumer interaction and foster deeper emotional connections. Policymakers and industry bodies can work together to establish standards for digital content, technology integration, and consumer privacy protection, which will enhance the overall consumer experience and build trust in digital fashion shows.

Defining Digital Public Health and the Role of Digitization, Digitalization, and Digital Transformation: Scoping Review

BackgroundThe recent proliferation and application of digital technologies in public health has spurred interest in digital public health. However, as yet, there appears to be a lack of conceptual clarity and consensus on its definition.ObjectiveIn this scoping review, we seek to assess formal and informal definitions of digital public health in the literature and to understand how these definitions have been conceptualized in relation to digitization, digitalization, and digital transformation.MethodsWe conducted a scoping literature search in Ovid MEDLINE, Embase, Google Scholar, and 14 government and intergovernmental agency websites encompassing 6 geographic regions. Among a total of 409 full articles identified, we reviewed 11 publications that either formally defined digital public health or informally described the integration of digital technologies into public health in relation to digitization, digitalization, and digital transformation, and we conducted a thematic analysis of the identified definitions.ResultsTwo explicit definitions of digital public health were identified, each with divergent meanings. The first definition suggested digital public health was a reimagination of public health using new ways of working, blending established public health wisdom with new digital concepts and tools. The second definition highlighted digital public health as an asset to achieve existing public health goals. In relation to public health, digitization was used to refer to the technical process of converting analog records to digital data, digitalization referred to the integration of digital technologies into public health operations, and digital transformation was used to describe a cultural shift that pervasively integrates digital technologies and reorganizes services on the basis of the health needs of the public.ConclusionsThe definition of digital public health remains contested in the literature. Public health researchers and practitioners need to clarify these conceptual definitions to harness opportunities to integrate digital technologies into public health in a way that maximizes their potential to improve public health outcomes.International Registered Report Identifier (IRRID)RR2-10.2196/preprints.27686

Digital transformation refers to major changes occurring in all sectors of the economy and society, as a result of the introduction and integration of digital technologies into every segment of human life. The subject of research work is the contribution of the process of digitization and digital transformation to the improvement of the business processes of companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina. One of the sources of competitive advantage of modern companies is digital technology, which, due to the accelerated development of information and communication technologies, is changing the way of functioning and adapting to a more innovative way of doing business. The problem of research work manifests itself through the question of whether the application of digital technology and digitization affects the business operations of companies and the choice of their business strategy, and whether digital transformation can represent the strategic determination of companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina in modern business conditions. The goal of the research is to investigate the meaning, characteristics, and role and functions of digitization and digital transformation in the business of the company. The paper will present a comparative analysis of the digitization process of business in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the European Union.

Digital technologies in business education: a hybrid literature review from the Web of Science database

PurposeThis study aims to consolidate existing research on digital technology in business education, focusing on adoption determinants, theoretical frameworks and implementation challenges.Design/methodology/approachA hybrid literature review was conducted. The first phase involved a keyword co-occurrence analysis of 254 Association of Business Schools-ranked journal articles from the Web of Science database to identify key research themes. To deepen the analysis, the second phase included a content analysis of the 24 most globally cited articles, each with a minimum of 65 total global citations.FindingsThe review reveals that studies primarily focus on factors influencing digital technology adoption, including institutional support, perceived usefulness and ease of use. Researchers frequently cite theoretical models such as the technology acceptance model and the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology. Identified challenges include concerns over technology effectiveness, resistance to change and the influence of cultural and generational differences on technology use.Practical implicationsThe findings guide educators and policymakers in formulating strategies for effective technology adoption, emphasizing alignment with educational goals and addressing cultural barriers.Social implicationsUnderstanding generational and cultural impacts enables the creation of inclusive digital education strategies that cater to diverse student needs.Originality/valueThis study synthesizes fragmented literature, offering new insights into the integration of digital technologies in business education.

This report provides an analysis of digital transformation (DT) in a selection of policy areas covering transport, construction, energy, and digital government and public administration. DT refers in the report to the profound changes that are taking place in all sectors of the economy and society as a result of the uptake and integration of digital technologies in every aspect of human life. Digital technologies are having increasing impacts on the way of living, of working, on communication, and on social interaction of a growing share of the population. DT is expected to be a strategic policy area for a number of years to come and there is an urgent need to be able to identify and address current and future challenges for the economy and society, evaluating impact and identifying areas requiring policy intervention. Because of the very wide range of interrelated domains to be considered when analysing DT, a multidisciplinary approach was adopted to produce this report, involving experts from different domains. For each of the four sectors that are covered, the report presents an overview of DT, DT enablers and barriers, its economic and social impacts, and concludes with the way forward for policy and future research.

Digital transformation in university libraries in Nigeria: Experience at the Kenneth Dike Library, University of Ibadan, Nigeria

Digital transformation (DT) has become essential for university libraries seeking to remain relevant in the evolving digital information landscape. This paper examines the concept, drivers, challenges, and prospects of digital transformation in university libraries, with particular reference to the Kenneth Dike Library, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. DT is conceptualised as the strategic integration of digital technologies into library operations, services, and culture to enhance access to information and support teaching, learning, and research (TLR). The study adopts a descriptive and analytical approach to highlight key drivers of DT, including technology-related continuous professional development, management support, funding and ICT infrastructure, staff capacity building, and policy frameworks. The paper further explores global trends in digital transformation and contrasts them with the Nigerian context, where progress is evident but constrained by infrastructural deficits, inadequate funding, limited digital competencies, and organisational resistance to change. The Kenneth Dike Library is presented as a case study, illustrating its transition from manual systems to an in-house integrated library system, digitisation initiatives, institutional repository development, and adoption of emerging technologies such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence. Findings reveal that digital transformation efforts are influenced by operational, contextual, and strategic challenges. Key lessons include the importance of leadership commitment, strategic planning, staff training, and user- centered service design. The study also proposes a harmonised Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) framework, alongside a practical roadmap for implementation. The paper concludes that despite existing challenges, digital transformation offers significant opportunities for enhancing service delivery, improving access to scholarly resources, and positioning university libraries as central hubs in the digital academic ecosystem. Also, recommendations for effective adoption and implementation of DT are made.

A STUDY OF COMMUNICATION FOR MAINTENANCE: A CASE OF SHANGHAI PORCELAIN ART INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE

Conservation and dissemination of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) is becoming a more critical issue in the globalization and digital revolution. The case of Shanghai Porcelain Art, which is a distinct urban handicraft that combines the classical Chinese porcelain production with the aesthetics of Shanghai and a lack of interactions with the public, is explained by the limited communication possibilities and underuse of digital resources. This paper discusses the aspects of the spread of Shanghai Porcelain Art and also analyzes how digital technologies and especially virtual reality (VR) can be used to enhance the inheritance and cultural transmission of heritage. The study adopted a quantitative research design with 350 stakeholders, including inheritors, artists, cultural practitioners, students and other persons as the general population using an integrated approach with uses and Gratifications Theory, Technology Acceptance Model and immersion-based digital heritage theory. Data was analysed through descriptive statistics, correlation, regression, and mediation analyses. The results show that there exists the substantial positive correlation between digital mode of transmission and the influence of heritage of effect of Shanghai Porcelain Art (β = 0.68, p < 0.001, R2 = 0.46). The inheritance effect, in its turn, is the one that makes a strong prediction of Shanghai culture dissemination (β = 0.74, p < 0.001, R2 = 0.55). The mediation analysis proved the existence of a partially mediating effect of the relationship between digital tools and cultural dissemination, (indirect effect = 0.55, 95% CI [0.45, 0.65], p < 0.001). The theoretical contribution of the study is its relation between the immersive digital technologies and heritage learning and cultural dissemination and its practical contribution in instructing policymakers, cultural institutions, and educators in the development of VR-based platforms to transmit heritage sustainably. Digital technologies therefore contribute to deep learning as well as active cultural involvement, which will strengthen the succession and overall promotion of Shanghai Porcelain Art.

Social media has changed the interaction between the customer and the business, social media has proven to provide new opportunities in facilitating access to information, efficiency and ease of interaction between customers and businesses that are distributed geographically dispersed. Ease of interaction to improve access to information about products, services, and prices have proven to have a positive impact for consumers. The purpose of this article is to develop a conceptual model to test the effect of user motivation, user expectations, and online community involvement to the intention of behavior that is mediated by the use of social media museum experience. This article is a literature study on exploration of social media user experiences museum in Indonesia. Authors searched and examined 85 articles from google scholar with the following keywords: motivation, expectations, online communities, user experience, social media, Technology Acceptance Model, Experiential Marketing, Uses and Gratification Theory. Proposed data collection techniques are literature study, survey and observation. The sample used in this research is 400 respondents of social media users that follow the social media managed by Indonesia’s museum. The sampling technique are systematic sampling. We use Structural Equation Model with AMOS for analyze the data.

Navigating the digital landscape: examining the interdependencies of digital transformation and big data in driving SMEs' innovation performance

PurposeIn this digital age, the rapid technological innovation and adoption, with the increasing use of big data analytics, has raised concerns about the ability of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to sustain the competition and innovation performance (IP). To narrow the research gap, this paper investigates the role of big data analytics capability (BDAC) in moderating the relationship between digital innovation (DI) and SME innovation performance.Design/methodology/approachThis research has been carried forward through a detailed theory and literature analysis. Data were analyzed through confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation models using a two-stage approach in smartPLS-4.FindingsResults highlight that digital service capability (DSC) significantly mediates the relationship between DI and IP. Additionally, value co-creation (VCC) directly affects digital transformation (DT), while DI has a stronger effect on DSC than IP. Furthermore, BDAC significantly moderates the relation between DSC → IP and DT → IP, whereas it has a detrimental effect on the relation between DI and IP. In addition to that, VCC, DSC, DT, DI and BDAC have a direct, significant and positive effect on IP.Practical implicationsThis research was motivated by the practical relevance of supporting SMEs in adopting DT and the resource-based view (RBV) and technology acceptance model (TAM). This study shows that all direct and indirect measures significantly affect innovation performance, including BDAC as moderator. These findings refresh the perspective on what DT, DI, VCC, DSC and BDAC can bring to a firm's innovation performance.Originality/valueThis paper has contributed to DT by empirically validating a theoretical argument that suggests the acceptance and adoption of new technology. This paper aims to fill theoretical gaps in understanding BDAC and DT by incorporating the RBV and TAM theories on BDAC and DT.

Exploring the role of knowledge management capacity on SMEs’ digital transformation intentions: Integrating signaling theory and the technology acceptance mode

Purpose - Digital transformation through adopting emerging technologies is critical for Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to remain competitive advantages. However, research on drivers of SMEs' digital transformation intention is limited. Knowledge management capacity (KMC) can potentially influence technology adoption by signaling the value of digital tools, but empirical evidence is lacking. This study examines the impact of KMC on SMEs' digital transformation intention and the mechanisms by integrating the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and signaling theory. Design/methodology/approach - A survey of 214 SME managers in Vietnam was conducted. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling was employed to test the research model. Findings - KMC positively influenced perceived usefulness and ease of use, subsequently impacting attitude and digital transformation intention. Implication - KMC plays an important role in the digital transformation of SMEs by signaling the benefits and simplicity of new digital technologies. This result shaped owner-managers’ beliefs and attitudes, highlighting the need to develop KMC capabilities. The study provides the first empirical evidence of the mechanisms linking KMC and digitalization in SMEs. Originality/value - This research introduced an innovative approach by integrating KMC as an external, organization-level antecedent that influences individual perceptions, thus serving as a signaling mechanism. By doing so, the study substantially enhanced the empirical foundation for signaling theory within the domain of technology acceptance. Furthermore, the incorporation of KMC into the TAM framework had markedly augmented the model's predictive capabilities, offering a more robust and comprehensive understanding of the determinants that drive technology adoption behavior.

Crisis-driven digital transformation: a multivariate analysis of OTT platform adoption and consumer behaviour in India during COVID-19

Purpose This study aims to investigate the transformative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on over-the-top (OTT) platform adoption and digital entertainment consumption among Indian consumers. By integrating the technology acceptance model (TAM), uses and gratifications (UG) theory and crisis-driven behavioural frameworks, the research seeks to identify core determinants, mediators and moderators influencing user adoption and to quantify the relative contribution of technological, motivational and contextual drivers in shaping digital media behaviour during periods of acute disruption. Design/methodology/approach A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 412 respondents selected through multi-stage stratified sampling to ensure representativeness across age, income, gender and region. The 64-item instrument, pilot-tested and validated for reliability, measured TAM, UG and crisis constructs. Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics, multivariate regression, multinomial logistic regression and structural equation modelling (SEM) to test direct, mediated and moderated pathways among key variables, providing a robust empirical assessment of the integrated conceptual framework. Findings Results reveal a 180% increase in OTT subscriptions and a dramatic rise in streaming hours post-pandemic. SEM analysis confirms perceived usefulness (ß = 0.54, p < 0.001) and UG motives (ß = 0.37, p < 0.001) as significant predictors of behavioural intention, with crisis exposure moderating the intention–usage relationship. The combined model explained 69% of behavioural variance. Distinct adoption and usage patterns emerge for urban youth and high-income groups, while platform choice is shaped by content, pricing and regional offerings. Research limitations/implications The cross-sectional design limits causal inference, and urban, digitally savvy youth are overrepresented, constraining generalizability to rural or older populations. Self-reporting introduces potential for recall and social desirability bias, and online sampling may exclude less-connected demographics. The study focuses on major OTT providers, omitting niche and/or regional platforms. Future research should employ longitudinal, probability-based and mixed-method designs to capture behavioural persistence and deeper motivational dynamics. Practical implications OTT providers can optimize segmentation by targeting high-intention, crisis-sensitive users with tailored content and pricing strategies. Investments in localized, diverse content and data-driven hybrid subscription models will enhance user retention. Policymakers should prioritize digital infrastructure expansion and actively promote regional content to strengthen industry resilience. Platform developers should implement adaptive interface and recommendation systems responsive to both technological and motivational drivers illuminated here. Social implications Widespread OTT adoption during crisis deepens digital inclusion for urban and youth segments but risks widening access gaps for marginalized groups. Enhanced content diversity and regional programming have the potential to foster cultural expression and cross-demographic engagement. Policy support for affordable access and digital literacy is vital to equitable benefits from accelerated media digitalization post-pandemic. Originality/value This paper advances knowledge by empirically validating an integrated TAM–UG–crisis framework for digital platform adoption in an emerging market under pandemic-induced upheaval. The multi-theoretical approach demonstrates the value of fusing technological, psychological and contextual perspectives to model adoption behaviour, offering actionable insights for researchers, industry practitioners and policymakers seeking to understand and shape digital transformation in volatile environments.
