Digital mediascapes and cultural transformation: youth identity formation in Tunisia’s post-revolutionary digital sphere
ABSTRACT This article examines the intersection of digital media spaces and cultural transformation in post-Arab Spring Tunisia, exploring how emerging mediascapes shape youth political participation and identity formation. Through Foucault’s ‘heterotopia’ and Bourdieu’s youth as a ‘social construct’, this study investigates how young Tunisians use the physical and digital mediascapes to create their political and social identities. As they move from conventional physical locations to digital platforms, the research reveals a profound cultural shift that gives rise to new forms of mediated citizenship. The global and local influences pull Tunisian youth in different directions, adding more complexity to their attitudes and behaviours. The study demonstrates how digital media spaces function as sites for political expression and cultural production while reconfiguring traditional civic engagement. Tunisian youth use digital platforms for everyday activities but avoid them for serious political involvement. Their acquired ‘glocal’ culture emanates from both the ‘global’ and the ‘local’, which creates spaces where the physical, digital, or mental overlap. The findings contribute to debates about digital media’s role in shaping public discourse and cultural identity. By examining the interplay between online and offline political participation, this research advances our understanding of how digital mediascapes influence cultural formations in contemporary societies.

New media technologies in many African countries require new scholarly engagements with new forms and sites of cultural representations, as well as the political ideologies embedded in and challenged by them. This essay examines the remediation of the function of the trickster hero of oral tradition in new media technologies, and how such reconfigurations catalyse new directions for the understanding of popular culture in Nigeria. The article analyses the reconfiguration of oral poetics in new media by focusing on a possible reappearance of trickster tactics within digital media spaces. Unlike the present fascination with the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, I suggest that such digital spaces as social network sites and Internet applications provide a more engaging media for young people to express political agency. In particular, I consider Akpos as a trickstoid character that both signifies the local currents of global media flows, and typifies a cultural urban metaphor of subaltern engagement with political hegemony in the postcolony. I conclude that Akpos tales, as affirmations of individual agency and new cultural forms facilitated by digital media spaces, enable a remapping of the contours of power in Nigeria.

Against the backdrop of an increasingly repressive environment, the study explores to what degree five established LGBT+ organizations use self-controlled digital spaces, Twitter and Facebook, during one month in 2022 to expose and challenge constructs that rationalize oppression of Ugandan LGBT+. The analysis revealed that digital media spaces were not used to challenge the local logics of oppression or contemporary processes sustaining oppression. Instead, spaces, often displaying a conspicuously uniform Western sexual rights language, focused on providing digital services and/or notification of offline services to the community and promoting the individual organization. The adoption of Western sexual rights campaign language, including using LGBT+ as identity labels to communicate Ugandan same-sex desires and gender identities, could be explained by the community’s dependency on international resources. The study’s contribution lies in its astute reminder – that the realization of digital spaces’ emancipatory potential is dependent on the political economy of the activists' context.

This chapter reviews the literature analyzing whether and how post-communism transition has transformed parenting values and practices and how these changes might have had an impact on youth identity formation. In total 16 studies conducted in 9 EU post-Soviet countries (Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Romania) were analyzed. This review provides information about similar and different patterns of parental values and practices and identity formation in youth among post-Soviet EU countries in comparison with Western countries. Results showed similarities and differences in parental values and practices and identity formation in adolescents and youth among these countries and compared to Western countries. Similarities among parental values were found, where parents’ value orientation is toward collectivism and interdependence; however in regard to parenting practices, parental support and control had different effects in different countries analyzed in this review. Differences between identity in exploration and commitment as well as in identity styles (informational versus normative styles) emerged in EU post-Soviet studies. Understanding the psychological mechanism between parenting values, dimensions and youth identity can be of great value in providing support and developing programs to the needs of parents and youth in transitional societies in EU.

Aim. The presented study aims to determine the narratives of digital economic transformation in industrial territories and to identify regions with the best prospects for its successful implementation.Tasks. The authors clarify the concept of “digital transformation narrative”; develop and test a logical model of narrative analysis of regional digital transformation; build a typology of industrial regions according to the prospects for successful implementation of digital economic transformation with allowance for the identified narratives.Methods. This study uses an original narrative analysis methodology consisting of five consecutive steps. During the first three steps, the interest of authorities, businesses, and the population in the implementation of digital transformation is assessed using bibliometric, comparative, and statistical analysis respectively. The fourth step of the methodology is implemented using content analysis tools, which makes it possible to identify the key narrative components of digital economic transformation. The fifth step summarizes the results obtained earlier by building a typology of industrially developed regions according to the level of their propensity for digital economic transformation determined with allowance for narratives.Results. The study proves that narratives forming in society during socio-economic and cultural transformations caused by digital transformation can (and should) serve as a source of information about the region’s propensity for transformations on the basis of innovations, reflecting the degree of the preparedness of authorities, businesses, and the population to adopt and participate in such transformations. The creators of digitalization narratives are identified, which include the government, businesses (represented by employers), and society (represented by job seekers and employees). It is found that the supply of digital competencies significantly exceeds the demand in the labor market. This may be due to the narratives operating in society, among other things. It is revealed that the interest of the Russian society in the digital transformation of the economy remains significant, while the interest of the population in individual narrative components varies in the regions. It is determined that soft skills prevail among the key competencies of economic transformation. It is established that regions with dominating manufacturing industries have a greater propensity for digital transformations: Sverdlovsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov, Chelyabinsk regions, Perm and Krasnoyarsk territories, the Republic of Tatarstan.Conclusion. Territories with extractive industries are still not prone to innovative transformations. At the same time, the population of such territories is more stressed and resistant to innovations. The obtained results are the first step in digital transformation research from the perspective of a narrative approach. This study will be useful for scientists and specialists in the field of narrative economics, as well as for those who are interested in digital transformation issues.

Today, appearances of new media, digital media, have changed human's perception, communication method and space. And now a day we can easily find digital media space in near personal life. In that kind of digital media space need new design concept. The flow was rise most important fact for digital media space design. In this study, among the digital media space, by taking advantage of the screen golf club. The subjects are both in the experience group and non-experience group, all were equally involved. If the case of non-experiential group, during the flow characteristics of tactile, 'visual', 'auditory', and 'tactile' imposes limitations on the golf simulators. In that case, I want to findout a connection with the flow characteristics and the space satisfaction.

This chapter provides a historical context of the development of diasporic and digital media spaces in London and compares it with other European and North American countries where the development of diasporic and ethnic media has led to renewed language and consumer-based identities. Through this lens, we capture the networks of solidarity and resistance created in digital diasporic media spaces and how local success stories and struggles are played out in transnational networks enabled by the concept of digital diasporas.

Purpose – The main objective of the article is an attempt to assess whether and how the digital transformation will affect the innovativeness of companies Research method – In the article, two basic research questions were formulated: 1. Does digital transformation affect the company’s innovation and if so, how? and 2. Can digital transformation change the structure and way of running a business in such a way that innovation can be more closely related to the entrepreneurial attitude of employees? The search for answers to these research questionswas based on the analysis of published research results, collected information on the processes of digitization and examples of companies implementing digital technologies and developing digital business models. The analysis of the impact of digital transformation on the innovativeness of enterprises was carried out taking into account two perspectives: macro – digital institutional transformation of the economy and micro – digital transformation of the enterprise. Results – The thesis that the digital transformation of the company does not guarantee the growth of the company’s innovativeness, but its absence will be a strong barrier to the innovation will be formulated and evaluated in the article. The second thesis assumes that thanks to digital transformation enterprises can be more innovative and their employees more entrepreneurial. Conducted analyses allow for a positive verification of the theses formulated in the article and drawing the following conclusion: if companies want to consider innovations, they should undergo a technological transformation that will allow them to take full advantage of the opportunities that digital technologies offer in business.Originality / value – The article showed that digital technologies and, in particular, digital technology platforms offer the company’s employees the possibility of returning to the original Schumpeterian idea of the entrepreneur as an innovator. In the new digital model of the company based on a digital platform, each employee becomes an entrepreneur and at the same time has the opportunity to create innovation in close cooperation with the end user, and thus be an entrepreneur and an innovator.

- Theoretical and Practical Issues of Journalism
The interest of the topic is determined by the fact that many problems in the theory and practice of journalism in the context of the information revolution arise as a result of the digitalization of the media space, which makes it possible to carry out significant transformations in media and journalistic creativity, ensure the successful implementation of civilizational development trends, and also resolve modern challenges. The result of these transformations should be the harmonization of media culture resources. It is obvious that the emergence of new problem situations causes an urgent need to increase, firstly, the dynamics of media creativity of content producers, and secondly, everyday media consumption of this potential. The authors argue that the digital media space, having received active development in the classroom, author, editorial, economic, and technological processes, will be able to ensure the unity of consciousness and activity of these subjects, the unity of media production and media consumption. The goal of the study is to analyze the nature of the integrity of journalism operating within the digital media space. The article notes that journalism in the digital media space is called upon to fulfill an important social role: to ensure high dynamism of information exchange, social interaction between individuals and society. The authors concluded that modern journalism studies in the context of digitalization of the media space note its rapidly increasing typological capabilities as a factor of media creativity, actively promoting integration, unity of actions of individual and society in everyday media culture, which contributes to the implementation of strategies and programs for the civilizational development of society.

The issues of social consolidation in a modern city are considered in the context of the development of digital communications. The author explores the information and communication aspect of modern practices of consolidation of citizens, the impact of the processes of globalization and digital transformation of society on the level of social consolidation. Along with new opportunities, digitalization also carries negative socio-economic and political consequences and risks. The expansion of social inequality and social disintegration are put forward in the first place. The solution to the problem lies in the adoption by society and the authorities of a new communication paradigm. New public digital consolidation spaces– digital platforms, messengers and social networks– are coming to replace the classic urban communication clusters localized on a spatial basis. The paper considers new parameters of communicative interaction, features of communication between government and society in the context of digital transformation. This is a change in the pace of communication, the development of self-regulation mechanisms and an increase in the interest of citizens in informal practices of participation in public life, a change in their role from consumers to content generators, the emergence of new discursive strategies, and more. The article concludes that it is participation in communications in the digital space that provides modern citizens with effective decision-making practices, participation in socio-political processes and social consolidation.

The paper examines specific features of renaming of German political parties in the digital media space. The digital media enviroment today offers additional opportunities for party renaming. This provides material for discussing which measures to modify the name of political parties in Germany in the modern digital space can be successful, and which can harm the party and its image. To achieve this goal, official websites and discussion forums of parties, magazine and newspaper articles, as well as reader comments by leading German online publications on social networks have been studied. The key approaches to party renaming process in a virtual environment have been identified. It is shown that the German digital space today serves as a platform for a detailed justification of the change of a party name and the presentation of a new approved variant or variants to the target audience, collection of suitable names with subsequent consideration by the representatives of the parties and integration of the opinions of the relative change of the name of the party. Turning directly to the audience with the question of changing the name, the founders of the parties are trying not only to find out the nominative preferences of the voters, but also to improve interaction with the modern electorally significant online audience and thereby expand it. It is noted that the so-called “external” discriminating renaming is gaining popularity in the digital German media space, as a result of which party nicknames arise.

Access to information about family planning (FP) continues to have financial, physical and social barriers among young women living in Kenya. This paper draws on social norms theory to explore how young women and their social networks access FP information on digital media (e.g., WhatsApp, websites). Qualitative phone interviews were conducted with 40 participants – young women, their partners and key influencers – in seven peri-urban wards in Nairobi, Kenya. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings suggested that young women, their partners and key influencers predominately accessed FP information online through their informal networks, but identified healthcare workers as the most trusted sources of FP information. In digital spaces, participants described being more comfortable sharing FP information as digital spaces allowed for greater privacy and reduced stigma to talk about FP openly. Our findings highlight the importance of digital media in disseminating FP information among young women and their networks, the differences in norms governing the acceptability to talk about FP online vs. in-person and the significance of targeting misinformation about FP in digital media spaces.

In accordance with international conventions the Sámi is an indigenous group belonging to two populations and two overlapping civil societies within one nation state. This situation not only influences Sámi political interests and activities in general, but it also affects the individual Sámi's political orientation and decisions. Nevertheless, no thorough study has been conducted, on the individual level, of Sámi political participation and involvement. We know neither how political attitudes and participation vary within this group, nor how it varies in relation to the Norwegian population in general. Thus we know practically nothing about how recent institutional developments have influenced Sámi citizenship. This article looks closely at variations in political involvement and participation amongst Sámi and non-Sámi living in Norway's Sámi language management area, and compares this with political involvement and participation amongst the Norwegian population in general. The Citizenship Survey shows that in terms of political interest and participation, the Sámi living in the Sámi language management area are on par with others living there, and with Norwegians in general. In several important political areas the Sámi actually show significantly more interest and involvement than Norwegians in general. Furthermore, Sámi political trust and self-confidence are as high as in the general population, and we have not uncovered any particular marginalisation with respect to women and young people's interest and participation. There is much to suggest that our findings measure not only the Sámi's combined political interest and participation, but also their degree of participation and interest in the Norwegian political system. We do not find a picture of Sámi political segregation, nor of an extensive marginalisation. The findings point towards strong integration in the Norwegian political system, with Norwegian and Sámi public space and civil societies overlapping rather than being competitive or even antagonistic.
