Abstract
An electrocardiogram (ECG) signal may be affected by several kinds of noises such as power line interference (PU), base line wander, motion artifacts, Electromagnetic Interference (EMG) etc. The task of eliminating these noises from ECG signals is very difficult due to their non-stationary nature of ECG signals. In recent times Wavelet transform has emerged as the most comprehensive as well as effective tool for the analysis of non-stationary signal such as ECG signals. In this paper we have presented the wavelet based 1-D de-noising mechanism for ECG signals which are corrupted by PLI of 50Hz frequency. The results have shown a marked improvement in terms of Signal to noise ratio (SNR) and power spectrum density (PSD) when compared with traditional notch filter.
