Abstract

Differential cross sections for simultaneous electron-photon excitation of He 23S and 21S are calculated for impact energies near threshold. An extension of Kroll and Watson's theory (1973) to inelastic collisions is used. Laser-off differential cross sections are calculated using a (29-state) R-matrix approach. Important modifications in the differential cross section are produced when the laser is turned on.
