Abstract
يعرف الأسلوب تقليديا على أنه التأثير الجمالي المعبر والشاعري الذي يضاف لغويا إلى الخطاب مع الحفاظ على المعنى .ولكن في الدراسة الحالية يعرف الأسلوب على أنه الاختيار اللغوي الذي يقوم به مستخدم اللغة لأغراض معينة. ولهذا تهدف هذه الدراسة الى تحليل الخطابات السياسية الإنجليزية والعربية لمعرفة ما إذا كان هناك اختلافات في الأسلوب بين اللغتين الإنجليزية والعربية، وما إذا كانت هذه الاختيارات التي يقوم بها مستخدمو اللغة تشير إلى أي سمات نفسية للمتحدثين. ومن أجل تحقيق هذه الأهداف، افترضت الدراسة أن الخطابات السياسية الإنجليزية والعربية يمكن أن تحلل أسلوبيا. وأن هناك اختلافات في الأسلوب بين الإنجليزية والعربية. وقد اختير خطابان سياسيان ليكونا البيانات الخاصة بهذا البحث. يعود الخطاب الاول للرئيس المصري السابق جمال عبد الناصر، ويعود الخطاب الثاني للرئيس ديفيد جونستون، حاكم كندا ويعد المنهاج المستخدم في التحليل في هذه الدراسة انتقائيا. وعرف الأسلوب بالنسبة لهذا المنهاج على أنه الاختيار الذي يقوم به مستخدم اللغة على محورين رئيسيين: المحور المباشر والمحور غير المباشر. وتم تحليل الاختيار في المحور المباشر باعتماد نظرية النحو الوظيفي المنهجي . بينما اعتمد منهج الأسلوب التقليدي لتحليل الاختيار في المحور غير المباشر. وقد خلصت الدراسة إلى بعض النتائج أهمها : إن مستخدمي اللغة يقومون بالاختيارات اللغوية بصورة لا شعورية للإعراب عن وجهات نظرهم ونواياهم. كما تكشف الكثير عن الحالة النفسية للمتحدثين وشخصياتهم.

Summary
The study of style, as a discipline, has a great role to play in handling discourse analysis. In other words, studying style could be a means of doing discourse analysis to reveal its ideological, social, psychological as well as aesthetic dimensions. Style is not limited to the study of the beautiful decoration of language in literary texts, but it can be used as a means to explore different dimensions in any genre of discourse being literary or non-literary ( like the one suggested in this paper). This is the intention behind writing this piece of work. Non-literary discourse has been chosen as data for speculating style in relation to discourse analysis
