Abstract

The following work analyses some processes of identity (re)affirmation and (re)construction of an ethnic group in a specific segmented situation. We will talk about the ethnically segmented commercial area; the Brazilian-Paraguayan frontier comprehended between the cities of Foz do Iguaçu and Cuidad Del Este. The ethnic group analyzed will be the Lebanese merchants, as well as their descendents involved on the same activity. There are many internal and external processes of identity (re)construction. We will detach the external ones, as stereotypes spread by media about community connection with terrorists activities and distorted perceptions from Brazilians about them.
