Abstract

With a fast differential coincidence system the limit of short-time-measurements given by noise in the differential coincidence circuit and the following electronic circuitry, has been determined. The resolving time has been measured as a function of the magnitude of the input pulses for tube diodes and semiconductor diodes, additionally the temperature dependence for semiconductor diodes. The shortest resolving time was measured to be 0.5 ps.
