Abstract

The diagnosis of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome was delayed for several years in two patients who presented with diarrhoea and steatorrhoea without dyspepsia. Although 5-10% of patients with a gastrinoma are known to present without symptoms of peptic ulceration, these patients were at first believed to have a mal-absorption syndrome. Both patients became symptom-free while on H2 antagonists.
