Abstract

Diamagnetic properties of matter were investigated on the grounds of the deterministic model of the atom. It is shown that the simple free-fall atomic model can quantitatively describe the atomic diamagnetism. The calculated magnetic susceptibilities of various materials (noble gases: He, Ne, Ar, and ionic molecules: NaCl, KCl and CaCl 2) were found to be in good agreement with the experimental data.
