Abstract

The diagnostic strategy for evaluating children with pulmonary hypertension is accepted with a high degree of consensus among clinicians. Utilizing current medical technology, the diagnosis and severity of pulmonary hypertension in a given child can be made with a high level of confidence. Following a general systematic approach to evaluating pulmonary hypertension can bring focus to specific problematic areas. This article discusses the work-up and evaluation of infants and children who present with pulmonary arterial hypertension, are suspected of having it, or are at high risk for developing the condition.
