Abstract
Abstract Five coordinated complexes of di- and triphenyltin(IV) moieties with semi- and thiosemicarbazones of furfuraldehyde, 2-methoxybenzaldehyde, 4-methoxybenzaldehyde, benzylmethylketone, benzil, salicylaldehyde, o-hydroxynaphthaldehyde and o-hydroxyacetophenone in 1:1 molar ratio have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, conductance measurements, electronic, IR, Far IR, 1HNMR and mossbauer spectral studies. The non-electrolytic complexes are proposed to have distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry around tin atoms with two equatorial and one axial phenyl groups in the triphenyltin complexes and with two axial phenyl groups in the diorganotin complexes. The ligands are coordinated through N and O or S and ONO or ONS donar sites.
