Abstract

Cp 2ZrCl 2 in the presence of triethylamine reacts in benzene solution with thiophenol and selenophenol to form the complexes Cp 2Zr(SC 6H 5) 2 and Cp 2Zr(SeC 6H 5) 2. Benzene- o-dithiols or sodium maleonitriledithiolate analogously give zirconium-containing five-membered ring chelates. All these complexes are yellow-colored and, in contrast to the corresponding titanium compounds, are extremely sensitive to air and solvolysis.
