Abstract

In order to study dynamic interaction between wave, structure and soil, wave-making devices for 2.2- drum centrifuge have been developed. This paper describes the wave making system and a series of wave tests in the drum centrifuge. As cross sectional observation is important to understand mechanisms of natural phenomenan, a model channel which has a clear window and mounts CCD camera system to observe it was developed. The results of centrifuge model tests were compared with these of 1 G hydraulic model tests. From the comparison of both results, it was found that the wave test in the drum centrifuge was useful in the investigation of interaction between waves and soil.
