Abstract
DC arrester is the key protection equipment of HVDC converter (converter valve). It is necessary to test the aging performance of valve disc of arrester according to the standard waveforms. In order to generate the voltage waveforms of valve and bridge arresters in HVDC converter, aging test power supply for converter arresters was developed by DC superimposed ripple. Aging test power supply implementation approach has been introduced in this paper. According to the parameters of the current DC arresters in the market, the parameters of high voltage DC power supply at high potential are analyzed, and the output current should be up to 15mA when the out voltage is 8kV. According to the voltage waveforms characteristics of various parts in the operation of HVDC project, the design principle of the aging power supply is introduced and the insulation level of the high voltage DC power supply to the ground is calculated. The topological structure and implementation of high voltage DC power at high potential are described. The output waveforms of pure DC voltage, the valve voltage and 6 pulse bridge voltage are presented, which are generated by the aging power supply composed of DC and ripple. The experimental results show that high voltage DC power supply at high potential can output 30mA at 8kV, which can also be used in series with the ripple power supply to generate required special waveforms.
